the gaming industry annoys me a lot because it has the potential to be the most creative and diverse outlet we have but like. nah. we got cod. and fifa. 0 female leading characters. the exact same slightly rough looking, dark haired, middle aged white dude.. 3/10

But at least you can image

"the gaming industry annoys me a lot because it has the potential to be the most creative and diverse outlet we have"

I won’t disagree with you, because you’ve a great point. If you would allow me, I would just add a little bit more information to this idea. Some reblogs mentioned it but to really fix this problem we need to be educating the next generation of female gamers. We need more female programmers, and shaders, and level designers, and any other position within a company that designs games.

This means you boys can’t be pushing down or insulting girls in your technology classes, but instead assisting them to rise with you as you would your male classmates.

Another important part of this change is to support the many but silent games we already have with female leads, even if they don’t exactly meet your visual representation beliefs. If we can show the current rich, white men, paying for these games to be made that not all of us want another army shooter with only 12 more pixels added to the game’s textures. Then, maybe we can see a little more mass marketing towards games that bring something a little different and fresh to the gaming table.

Personally I’ve taken a liking to games on Kickstarter such as, Battle Chef Brigade, and Together: Amna & Saif. These games and many others like them are out there, but uncomfortably hard to find.

If we keep talking about what we want games to be, it will only be a matter of time before those with the abilities make our dreams reality. Which was the exact same reason video games became a thing in the first place.
